Mackenzie Holst

Attorney

Mackenzie Holst is a zealous and compassionate advocate for her clients navigating family law issues. She handles a variety of family law matters including divorce, child custody, adoptions, child custody modifications, child support, property division, and LGBT divorce and custody cases.

Mackenzie, originally from Orange County, California, has lived in the North Austin community for nearly a decade. She received her undergraduate degree from TCU in 2017, graduating magna cum laude, and her law degree from University of Texas School of Law in 2023, where she was the recipient of the prestigious Roberta Wright Reeves Presidential Scholarship. As an adoptee, she has had the personal goal of becoming a family law attorney since she was a child. She believes that it is her life’s calling to advocate for families and children as they go through challenging and uncertain circumstances.

Mackenzie is also dedicated to giving back to the community, especially Austin’s most vulnerable populations. In law school, she was a student attorney for the University of Texas’ Domestic Violence Clinic, representing victims of physical and emotional violence, and a Staff Editor for the Texas Journal on Civil Liberties & Civil Rights. She has also clerked at SAFE Austin, the city’s largest nonprofit dedicated to assisting victims of abuse, and dedicated dozens of pro bono hours at Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, where she remains a frequent volunteer at their pro bono family law clinics. In 2023, Mackenzie was honored with the Dean’s Achievement Award in Mediation from the University of Texas School of Law.

Apart from family law, one of Mackenzie’s greatest passions is LGBT rights. During law school, she was the President of OUTLaw – UT Law’s LGBT student organization – and a Pro Bono Scholar for the Gender Affirmation Project, which assists hundreds of trans Texans annually with obtaining name and gender marker changes. As a member of the community, and staunch advocate for LGBT rights, she is committed to helping LGBT Texans access legal resources and representation.
